STRAWBERRIES

The United States is the leader of the global strawberry market, accounting for a third of the total world's production. Favorable climate conditions make the state of California the largest producer of strawberries in the United States.

Strawberries are delicate, requiring gentle handling to prevent bruising. With today's shipping technology, strawberries are available year round, which was not the case even a few decades ago. Commercial growers have produced resilient hybrid berries known for their shipping quality.

Kids love strawberries! Over 53% of seven to nine year olds picked strawberries as their favorite fruit. This kid chosen preference is great considering eight strawberries will provide 140% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C for children.

Parents love the little red fruit as well! Each American eats an average of 3.4 pounds of fresh Strawberries each year plus another 1.8 pounds frozen.
